Trampling boundaries between Noise, Techno, Punk and the Avant-Garde, the unruly mongrels of this selection de-construct sonic perimeters much like their original No Wave counterparts of the late '70s/early '80s. They inject an atonal, repetitive vitality into well-worn templates and run amok with convention, forging genuinely new sounds and styles in the process. Some of them are old enough to know better, while younger operators strive for new forms, but they all share a taste for the messy thrills of new sonic alloys in formation. It's a genre-not-genre, taking in Russell Haswell's spattered 'Scratchy (Freeze Dub)' alongside the tetchy drums and electronics of Powell, S. English and N.M.O., the locked-in drum machine and synth rituals of Delroy Edwards, DJ Bookworms or Burial Hex, and the roiling technoid deviations of Lust For Youth, Regis, Basic House and Ron Morelli.
